  Never even got to double check my rifle zero after traveling there. I brought it up a few times even. Earl has terrible communication. We literally met along side the highway at 5am and was told to follow him up a road. No game plan for the hunt ever. I asked multiple times in the week before the hunt and also the night before. For a place overran with deer, I didn't see a lot of deer. Didn't harvest either a buck or doe. I get they are wild animals and there are no guarantees of success, but we went to the same spot 3 times in a row in a 2 day hunt and it was the same story each time. Few doe, very thick cover, lots of sitting and staring at the same hillside. When we did see deer, they were almost 400 yards away and the winds were 30-40mph. Not a shot I want to take. As another review here says, the experience was a disappointment. I highly DO NOT recommend going with Extreme Axis. I got the feeling it was more of a money grab for him than a successful, fun hunt for me. I regret choosing this "guide". Definitely not worth the time, money or effort to go here.

  Very poor communication… I booked a package hunt including a vehicle and place to stay. Every time I reached out to confirm he would ask the dates again. I confirmed housing, vehicle and dates one last time and it was all confirmed. Once I got to Hawaii I reached out to get address for housing and vehicle description he said those were no longer available due to flooding months before which I sympathize with but he never communicated that with me in the months before the hunt and had ample opportunity. He did refund my deposit so that was a plus.

  Earl is a fantastic guide and made our first Hawai’i hunt well worth it. My wife harvested a beautiful, old, mature, 30 inch buck on the first morning out. Him and his son are true experts at what they do. If you are looking to get an opportunity at a once in a lifetime trophy and hunt this island in some truly rugged terrain, Earl is the guide you want.

  Earl was a fantastic guide, very knowledgeable about the deer, their habits and the terrain. Was exactly what I was looking for in a hunt. Would definitely come hunt again and recommend to friends. Book the hunt, you won’t regret it.
